Californian actor Jeremy Renner, best known for his work in The Hurt Locker and as Hawkeye in the MCU, has been airlifted to hospital following a 'weather-related incident', according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in Nevada. The actor has a home at a ski resort at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and had recently tweeted about the extreme weather conditions in the area.

Renner is reported to be in a critical but stable condition following treatment. He was ploughing snow when the incident occurred, but no further details are known at this stage.

The Lake Tahoe area is one of several parts of the US to have been impacted by unusually severe winter storms. The weather phenomenon which Renner faced is thought to be the most severe blizzard to hit the area for at least a century, and it left 35,000 homes without power as temperatures dropped to -8°C. Although conditions have now improved, residents are still being advised to avoid travel if possible.
