The Edinburgh International Film Festival will host the UK première of Disney's hotly awaited Incredibles 2, it was announced today. The 'super family gala' will take place on 24 June.

"The Incredibles won hearts the world over with its fun and exciting adventures and it’s an honour to be continuing our long-standing relationship with Disney and Pixar Animation Studios to deliver this special, superpowered sequel to our younger audiences and their families," said festival director Mark Adams.

The sequel to 2004's The Incredibles will see Mr Incredible (voiced by Craig T Nelson) left to look after the baby while wife Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) is rounding up superheroes to help save the world.

The full festival programme will be announced on 23 May.
