John Travolta faces assault allegations

Star's spokesman calls claim "baseless lie".

by Jennie Kermode

Two masseurs are suing John Travolta over separate alleged incidents of sexual assault, it emerged today. The star has declined to comment on the allegations directly, but denied the first charge through a spokesman, saying he can prove he was elsewhere at the time. He is believed to be planning to counter-sue in both cases.

Both cases are being brought by the same lawyer, Okorie Okorocha, in Travolta's home state of California. Mr Okorocha has intimated that the allegations were discussed with the star's assistants in efforts to reach a settlement before formal action was taken.
