Princess Diana dreamed of walking in Whitney Houston's shoes

Diana would have been Bodyguard sequel star, says Kevin Costner.

He received the finished script the day before she died. Now Kevin Costner has revealed that Princess Diana intended to star in a sequal to The Bodyguard, the film that launched Whitney Houston's acting career.

Speaking to US broadcaster Anderson Cooper, Costner said that Diana would have played herself and he would have reprised his role as a bodyguard, in this case protecting her from the paparazzi who have since been accused of causing her death in real life. The story would have involved a passionate love affair between the two lead characters.

Whitney Houston always spoke fondly of Costner and stressed her gratitude for his support as she developed the confidence to take on a major screen role. he two remained friends and he read a eulogy at her funeral in February.
