Loach, Cruise and Leclerc films hit the beach in Cannes

A restored version of Ken Loach's Land And Freedom and a 40th anniversary screening of Top Gun have been announced as part of the Cannes Film Festival's Cinéma de la Plage open-air screenings, which take place on Macé Beach on the Croisette.

Among the older films will be the world premiere screening of Michel Lecerc's period comedy drama Molière, Cyrano and the Young King, starring Artus, Doria Tillier, Julia Piaton and Franck Dubosc.

There are 11 films in the section, including the two Palme d’Or winners from 1966 - A Man and a Woman, directed by Claude Lelouch, and Pietro Germi's The Birds, The Bees And The Italians. Also featured is Alan J Pakula's All The President’s Men, Carlos Saura's Cria Cuervos and Junya Sato's The Bullet Train/Super Express 109.
