Tom Bell passes away in hospital, aged 73.

Veteran actor Tom Bell has died in hospital, after a short illness.

The Liverpool-born star - who recently starred in engaging if gritty drama Dead Man's Cards, which was set in his home town - was 73.

In a career spanned 50 years, Bell appeared in hit dramas including Prime Suspect and featured in movies such as Wish You Were Here and The Krays.
