One Battle After Another has just come out ahead in this year's BAFTA nominations, with the full list revealed today. Sinners is next with 13, while Marty Supreme has 11 and so does Hamnet, one of those making Chloé Zhao the most-nominated female director in the history of the award.

One notable success here is Bugonia, which has made a lot of longlists but not quite taken off so far this season.

The acting categories are interesting this year, with an unusual number of first-timers in the running. Notably, they include young One Battle After Another star Chase Infiniti, whose performance was a hit with the public but has largely been outshone by those of her co-stars in this year's other awards.

"I am deeply grateful to the British Academy for recognizing the film and our cast and crew with these nominations," said Joachim Trier, director of Sentimental Value. "The cast and crew poured their hearts into the film and I’m incredibly proud of everyone that came together to make Sentimental Value. I studied directing at the NFTS so it means a lot to be recognized like this by my peers."

"Thank you BAFTA for the two nominations," said The Secret Agent director Kleber Mendonça Filho. "I wrote this very personal script in my own language, Portuguese, and to see it nominated in the UK is a thing of beauty."
