Abner Pastoll's Nervous is to open this year's Frightfest, it was announced yesterday. Starring Sarah Bolger, who previously worked with Pastoll on A Good Woman Is Hard To Find, it tells the story of a woman who finds herself losing her hearing - but only where men's voices are concerned. The festival, whose full August line-up was also revealed, will close with Marion Le Corroller’s sinister story of workplace burnout and bodily transformation, Species.

Frightfest has pulled off something of a coup this year by obtaining the Adams family's eagerly awaited new film, The Glorious Dead. Other highlights include Yeon Sang-ho's Colony and Casey Walker's Lovecraft-inspired Hammer treat Ithaqua. Justin Hardy completes his father's Wicker Man trilogy with Wrath Of The Gods, Larry Fessenden unites his creations in Trauma Or, Monsters All and Jenn Wexler puts her mark on a killer franchise with the no-holds-barred Last Temptation Of Becky. Attendees can also enjoy restorations of Jim Makichuk’s Ghostkeeper and Val Guest's The Abominable Snowman.

The festival runs from 27 to 31 August.
