Bertrand Tavernier is no longer able to attend New York's Rendez-Vous With French Cinema for his conversation with Russell Banks. He has been replaced by Paul Schrader.

Sophie Fillières and Agathe Bonitzer (When Margaux Meets Margaux), Emmanuel Mouret (Mademoiselle de Joncquières), Judith Davis (Whatever Happened to My Revolution), Hélène Fillières (Raising Colors), Pierre Salvadori and Pio Marmaï (The Trouble with You) have been confirmed for the New French Comedies discussion.

Eva Husson (Girls Of The Sun), Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (The Mustang), Brady Corbet (Vox Lux), and Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire (A Prayer Before Dawn) will participate in Filming Abroad.

“It is a great honour to have Russell Banks as our American ambassador for the 2019 edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema,” said Executive Director of UniFrance Isabelle Giordano. “For him and for American audiences, French cinema today represents an alternative voice and an alternative vision on world issues and collective consciousness, which is reflected throughout this year’s selection.

"In particular, we’re extremely proud to showcase a wide variety of women’s stories - films about social workers fighting for the women of a closing homeless shelter, millennial women trying to find their place in the world, and women becoming soldiers to fight for their freedom. As ever, we are thrilled to introduce American audiences to bold new French voices, this year including Judith Davis, Sarah Marx, Romain Laguna, Mikhaël Hers, and Eva Husson, and to present the critical and box-office hits Sink Or Swim and Invisibles, which resonate with the recent social situation in France.”
