Ben Affleck's hostage drama Argo has taken the top prize - Best Screen Ensemble - at the Screen Actors' Guild Awards, boosing its hopes of winning an Oscar after winning Best Film at the Golden Globes and Producers' Guild Awards. The director, excited at his remarkable comeback after several quiet years, said he never expected the film to attract such praise.

Also on a winning streak is Daniel Day-Lewis, who received another Best Actor nod for his performance as Lincoln, while Jennifer Lawrence took Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook. Ann Hathaway won Best Supporting actress for Les Misérables and Tommy Lee Jones was named Best Supporting Actor - another win for Lincoln. Meanwhile Skyfall received an award for Best Stunt Ensemble, the only major prize in the industry to honour stunt work.
