The Evia Film Project, the green initiative of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, is returning for its fifth edition to Northern Evia, from June 23 to 27, with this year's edition focusing on the unseen and fascinating world of the forest.

It will begin with a blend of cinema and music from the band Quilombo and a screening of John Huston's classic The African Queen. The closing event will feature a screening of Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park.

Throughout the long weekend, films will be screened with a free admission at the open-air cinemas Apollon, in Edipsos, and Elymnion, in Limni, with an additional special screening of Bathers (2009) by Eva Stefani - which was largely shot in Edipsos - in the village of Rovies. It follows the life of a group of bathers in different spa towns of Greece during the course of a summer. The festival will also host educational workshops for children and teenagers, plus there will be a selection of virtual reality films to watch in Edipsos.

Accompanying the films screened at the 5th EFP a series of open discussions will be held with the audience and students from the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, based in Psachna. The discussions will take place at the “Melina Merkouri” Cultural Center in Edipsos.

The film line-up is below:

The African Queen

Rambo: First Blood
● Pack Of Sheep
Tropic Thunder
● Digger
Pan's Labyrinth
Deliverance
● Bathers
