Dorian Awards winners announced

Another victory for Argo.

by Jennie Kermode

Argo has done it again and won best film at the Dorian Awards, chosen by the Gay And Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA). In a winners' list with few surprises, Daniel Day-Lewis was named Best Actor for his performance in Lincoln and Anne Hathaway scooped Best Actress for Les Misérables. Best LGBT film of the year went to Keep The Lights On and Best Documentary was won by How To Survive A Plague, which charts the early years of the HIV epidemic and the way activists fought for a cure.

A special award for Most Visually Striking Film Of The Year went to Ang Lee's Life Of Pi, acclaimed for its beauty despite tough competition from such works as Anna Karenina and Cloud Atlas, while Magic Mike and The Paperboy shared the title Most Campy Flick Of The Year and Bernie was acclaimed Most Unsung.

GALECA's Timeless Award for lifetime achievement went this year to Ian McKellen while Ezra Miller was acclaimed as most promising newcomer.
