Expendables 2 faces lawsuit

Parents of dead stuntman allege negligence.

by Jennie Kermode

The Expendables 2 is facing a lawsuit today as the parents of stuntman Kun Liu, who died on set last October, argue that he wasn't given adequate protection. Liu was one of two men injured when a controlled explosion went wrong.

The size of the lawsuit, against Millennium Films and stunt coordinator, Chad Stahelski, is unknown but understood to be over $25,000. Zong Yu Liu and Yan Mei Bai are seeking funeral expenses as well as compensation for their loss.

Liu and an American colleague were standing on a rubber boat on set at Ognyanovo Dam, southeast of Sofia in Bulgaria, when the explosion occurred. Both were rushed to hospital where Liu unfortunately died. The other man survived after five hours of surgery but needed respiratory assistance; his present condition is unknown.
