Alec Baldwin in paparazzi punch-up.

by Jennie Kermode

Alec Baldwin has once again hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons, and that's not all he's hit. What should have been a happy trip to New York City's Marriage License Bureau to pick up a license for wedding his fiancee, yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas, ended badly for all involved when the actor lashed out at a paparazzi photographer who took his picture.

"A ‘photographer’ almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning," said Baldwin on Twitter later, evidently experiencing no regret over his actions. The snapper, Marcus Santos, was punched once in the face and later shoved when he stepped in to try and protect another photographer from the angry star. The two men dispute how close they were before the incident occurred, with Santos insisting he was ready to move back.

Baldwin, who was previously married to Kim Basinger, got engaged to Thomas in April and plans to marry her at the end of this month in the city's Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. Thomas has said she hpes to have a simple ceremony but it seems unlikely the press will stay away from it now.
