Salford Announces Film Festival Line-up

Salford becomes Sallywood for three film-filled days.

The Salford Film Festival, now in its second year, is an event with a difference. It unites the city's incredible movie heritage with the new community-driven cinematic wave sweeping the area.

Supported by Salford's legendary sons - from Sir Ben Kingsley to Albert Finney, from Robert Powell to Christopher Eccleston - the focus of the Festival each year is to showcase and premiere new work and new stars emerging in the city, many of whom are ordinary mums, dads and school kids.

This year, showing alongside the films of Albert Finney, Sir Ben Kingsley and Christopher Eccleston, there are five new community premieres being shown, ranging in subjects from madness to magic.

Mike Knowles, Chair, Salford Film Festival, says:

"Our aim is to show that anyone can enjoy film culture - make a film, star in a film, or enjoy a film that hasn't got a Titanic budget. From a romantic idea on the back of an envelope, the Salford Film Festival has become a reality, reflecting the vibrancy of our city, its people and its moving image."

With open seminars, conferences, events, workshops and even more community films, this year's Salford Film Festival celebrates Sallywood' going from strength to strength.
