La Perra was the pup for the cup as the Palm Dog was announced in Cannes earlier today.

The prize was won by rescue dog Yuri, who has a co-starring role in the drama from Chilean director Dominga Sotomayor, about a woman whose life begins to change after the arrival of a stray puppy. A second rescue dog, Tormenta María, played La Perra as a puppy.

Meanwhile Lola, a stray in Clio Barnard’s I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, which has also collected the Directors’ Fortnight audience award, won the jury prize.
