Ang Lee to receive Filmmaker of the Year Award

Often an editor's perspective differs strongly from that of the general viewer, but this year's Golden Eddie nominations look remarkably similar to the list of films winning awards at all the big events so far. They highlight very different editing styles, from the fast cutting and smooth gliding action techniques of F1 to the delicate emotional work of Sentimental Value.

This is an exciting year for directors Chloé Zhao and Josh Safdie, both of whom have received notice for co-editing their films.

The Golden Eddies are voted on exclusively by members of American Cinema Editors (ACE). The winners will be announced in a ceremony at Royce Hall, UCLA, on 27 February.

In addition to the category winners, Ang Lee will receive the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, Kim Larson & YouTube will receive the ACE Visionary Award, and Film Editors Arthur Forney, ACE, and Robert Leighton will receive ACE Career Achievement Awards.
