One Battle After Another
One Battle After Another leads the charge as the BAFTA longlist was announced.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s rangy political thriller came out on top with 16 longlist entries, with Chloé Zhao’s Shakespearean tale of grief Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s vampire mash-up Sinners snapping at its heels with 14 each.

There are also strong showings from Following just Josh Safdie’s ping-pong film Marty Supreme, Yorgos Lanthimos’ dark satire Bugonia and Guillermo del Toro’s take on Frankenstein. From an international perspective, Joachim Trier's family drama Sentimental Value rated highly with eight nominations.

Alan Cumming with host the BAFTA on February 22. The next round of voting, determining the final nominations, will take place between January 9 and 20.
