The actor James Ransone, known for Inside Man, Tangerine and It Chapter Two as well as a series-long role in The Wire, has been found dead in his Los Angeles home, it was reported today. There was no suspicious circumstances and the cause of death is believed to be suicide.

Ransone made such a big impact in his supporting role in Sinister in 2012 that he became the main character in Sinister 2. He also appeared in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, Small Engine Repair and V/H/S/85, amongst others. He played Max in The Black phone and was most recently seen in its sequel, The Black Phone 2.

Ransone spoke out about having been abused as a child, and had struggled with mental health problems, including a period of heroin addiction. He is survived by his wife and two children.
