The first tranche of titles for this year's Fantasia International Film Festival has been revealed, and it includes some films with big fan appeal. Terrestrial is the new work by Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink, and sees a science fiction writer struggling to hold onto his sense of reality, while Cassandra Naud's sinister imposter character returns in a sequel to Kurtis David Herder's 2022 hit Influencer (with the same title but now in the plural). Anime lovers will be delighted by Kenji Nakamura's Mononoke The Movie: Chapter II, as well as Yasuhiro Aoki's futuristic Little Mermaid adaptation Chao.

Other highlights include Julie Pacino's nightmarish psychodrama I Live Here Now, Hubert Davis's post-apocalyptic thriller The Well and US/Japanese crossover production I Fell In Love With A Z-Grade Director In Brooklyn. Festival regulars the Adams Family return with witchcraft thriller Mother Of Flies, while Alex Phillips, director of the legendary All Jacked Up And Full Of Worms, delivers bicycle courier sex comedy Anything That Moves. Meanwhile there's stop motion weirdness and wonder in Rodolfo and Arturo Ambriz's I Am Frankelda.

The festival will take place in Montreal’s Concordia Hall and JA de Sève cinemas, with additional screenings and events at the Cinéma du Musée between 17 July and 3 August.
