From Argentina, Argentina, 1985, Santiago Mitre director; France, Saint Omer, Alice Diop director; Germany, All Quiet On The Western Front, Edward Berger director; Austria, Corsage, Marie Kreutzer director; Cambodia, Return To Seoul, Davy Chou director; Poland, EO, Jerzy Skolimowski director; Pakistan, Joyland, Saim Sadiq director; Ireland, The Quiet Girl, Colm Bairéad director; Sweden, Cairo Conspiracy, Tarik Saleh director; Morocco, The Blue Caftan, Maryam Touzani director; South Korea, Decision To Leave, Park Chan-wook director; Denmark, Holy Spider, Ali Abbasi director; Belgium, Close, Lukas Dhont director; Mexico, Bardo, False Chronicle Of A Handful Of Truths, Alejandro G. Iñárritu director, and India, Last Film Show, Pan Nalin director are the 15 films selected for the International Feature Film shortlist.

For the 95th Academy Awards, the submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between January 1, 2022 and November 30, 2022. A total of 93 countries submitted a film. Uganda submitted a film for the first time, and Tanzania made a submission for the first time since 2001. Malta's submission, Valerie Buhagiar’s Carmen was not included on any of the assignment lists sent to Academy members. On December 6, 2022, the Academy confirmed the list of the 92 eligible films.

In April of 2019, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences changed the Best Foreign Language Film category to Best International Feature Film.

Films submitted in the International Feature category may also qualify for Academy Awards in other categories, including Best Picture.

The final five nominees are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
