Sinners on fire as Critics Choice nominations are announced

One Battle After Another, Frankenstein and Hamnet also look good

Sinners has made the most impressive showing so far this awards season, attracting no fewer than 17 Critics Choice nominations. It's a particularly remarkable showing for a genre film, which until recently were routinely overlooked in mainstream awards ceremonies. The next closest contender is One Battle After Another, on 14, while Frankenstein and Hamnet have 11 each.

The awards ceremony will take place on 4 January.
