Another Best Supporting Actress win for Angela Bassett

Historical epic The Woman King, set in the Kingdom of Dahomey, has been named Best Picture in the 14th annual African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) Awards, with Gina Prince-Bythewood taking Best Director. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won four awards, including another Best Supporting Actress gong for Angela Bassett, who is on a roll this year. There were also three awards for Till.

AAFCA has over 100 members and is dedicated to promoting the work of African-descended people working in the industry, with a view to creating more opportunities for them.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Beverly Hills on 1 March.
