It was another great night for Everything Everywhere All At Once at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, where it won in five categories including Best Picture and Best Director, with Ke Huy Quan continuing his streak of picking up Best Supporting Actor awards.

The 51-year-old star, whose amazement and delight at this has endeared him to the crowds, was one of the two most celebrated winners of the night, alongside Brendan Fraser, who took the Best Actor award for his performance in The Whale. Although there has been criticism over his casting, given that he wore a fat suit whilst genuinely fat actors struggle to find work, it was widely felt that he deserved the award both for his professional skill and for the long struggle which he faced to get back into the business after accusing sometime Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk of sexually assaulting him in an incident which the HFPA subsequently put down to misinterpretation. Fraser was notably absent from this year's Golden Globes, saying that his mother had not raised him to be a hypocrite.

Also enjoying success at the Critics Choice Awards was Cate Blanchett, whose work in Tár, where she plays a powerful woman accused of sexual exploitation, has received widespread praise and may well see her win the Oscar. Taking Best Supporting Actress was Angela Bassett for [film]Black Panther: Wakanda Forever[/film, which also won in the costume category.

The Critics Choice Association is the largest critics organisation in the US and Canada, with a membership comprising of more than 600 media critics and entertainment journalists.
