Kevin Spacey has been charged with multiple sexual offences, London's Metropolitan Police announced today.

The 62-year-old actor will face trial on four counts of sexual assault against three men, and an additional charge of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. All of the alleged offences are said to have occurred in London or Gloucestershire, between 2002 and 2013. The charges follow extensive investigations carried out by police, following a formal interview with Spacey in 2019.

The alleged victims, who are now in their thirties and forties, have been informed by police that charges have been brought.

The trailer for Spacey's latest film, Peter Five Eight, has just premièred at Cannes. In the film, Spacey plays a serial killer. it's his first major project since he was dropped from Netflix series House Of Cards five years ago, following allegations of rape unrelated to those investigated by the Met. He was ordered by an arbiter to pay over $30 million to MRC, the company behind the series.

To date, Spacey has denied all the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him.

Editor's note: On July 26, 2023, Spacey was declared not guilty of all charges following a trial in London
