Lifetime Achievement Award for George Clooney

George Clooney is to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute, it was announced today. The actor, director and producer has garnered eight Oscar nominations over the course of his career and won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Syriana in 2005.

The award is given annually to a person "whose talent has in a fundamental way advanced the film art; whose accomplishment has been acknowledged by scholars, critics, professional peers and the general public; and whose work has stood the test of time."

Julia Roberts will present the award to her friend and Money Monster co-star on the 7th of June in a special ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
