Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri has won three out of six film trophies at this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards. Voted on exclusively by other actors, the awards are seen by many as more meaningful than the Oscars because they reflect a real understanding of the work that goes into a performance.

Although there were no protests like those seen recently at the Golden Globes, the empowerment of women in the industry was very much a theme of the night. Nicole Kidman, who won one of the television awards, spoke about how pleased she is that actresses over 40 now have the opportunity to continue their careers when once they were consider to be "washed up." Brie Larson announced that SAG is now involved in developing a code of conduct to protect women on film sets.
