Boyhood is best, say NY critics

Richard Linklater film scoops early award.

The New York Film Critics' Circle announced its annual awards today, with Richard Linklater being named Best Director for Boyhood, which also won Best Film and saw Patricia Arquette take the Best Supporting Actress award. Best Actor went to Britain's Timothy Spall for his portrayal of Mr. Turner, while Marion Cotillard took Best Actress for her work in The Immigrant and Two Days, One Night, and JK Simmons won Best Supporting Actor for Whiplash.
