Glasgow, Lancaster, Newcastle, London and Manchester are all on the agenda as Carlos Gallardo, producer of El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon A Time In Mexico, prepares to tour the UK. The Mexican filmmaker, who made his first feature on just over £4,000, will be giving a series of masterclasses on low budget filmmaking in association with UK Trade & Investment North West and UKTI North East.

Besides production, Gallardo has worked as a writer, director and actor, making a memorable appearance as an out-of-his-depth police officer in close friend Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror. He also has experience working in the art ans special effects departments. The masterclasses are designed to cover everything from writing and financing to sales and distribution, and will include panel discussions and opportunities for attendees to ask questions. The aim is to provide the inspiration and practical advice needed to help new filmmakers succeed, and the tour is part of a general focus on film at UKTI this year, with talks taking place around the country to try and improve the business skills essential to enabling creative talent to flower.

Further information on the tour is available here.
