Looking for something suitably spooky to enjoy in the cinema this Halloween? Check this list to see if there's something happening near you.

Banchory - There's a chance to catch FW Murnau's vampire classic Nosferatu at Woodend Barn, with a new score featuring Graeme Stephen on guitar and Ben Davis of Mercury Prize nominees Basquiat Strings on cello.

Cardiff - Enjoy all day Hallowwen screenings at the Chapter Arts Centre from the team behind Abertoir: Paranorman, The Evil Dead, Before Dawn and more.

Dundee - Things go bump in the night with a special 30th anniversary screening of Poltergeist at Dundee Contemporary Arts.

Edinburgh - Check out the special Halloween previews of the new, extended cut of Kubrick classic The Shining at the Filmhouse.

Glasgow - See The Shining in a double bill with Room 237, the new documentary that explores theories about its hidden secrets.

Leeds - It's Halloween Film Night at the Espresso Bar with Hocus Pocus and a three course meal.

London - Harry Potter: Dark Arts Week at Warner Bros. Studios. Take a studio tour with a difference as death eaters descend on Harry Potter sets, plus get a chance to find out more about the series' most sinister villains.

London - Catch a Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice double bill at the Water Poet.

London - Enjoy a night of film-related stand-up comedy with Richard Sandling's Perfect Movie Halloween Special at the Leicester Square Theatre.

Manchester - A horror double bill of Suspiria and Excision is scheduled for the 1st at the Dancehouse, courtesy of the lovely folks from Grimmfest.

Newcastle - Vote for your favourite horror movie and you might get to see it at the Tyneside Cinema on Halloween, alongside The Shining, Psycho and more. Sinister surprises are promised and there'll be a horror film quiz in the bar, plus you can look forward to a cult classic all-nighter the following weekend.

Nottingham - Mayhem kicks off five days of horror happenings with a screening of Maniac and some live horror stories from the Nottingham Writers' studio. We recommend Grabbers on the 1st, while later in the week things get really scary with American Mary.

Stockport - A screening of The Exorcist at the Plaza is sure to turn heads.
