Alleged murderer won movie role

Accused was to star in serial killer film.

Sometimes real life and the movies become close in ways best avoided. News emerged today that Jonathan Andrew Stenberg - suspected of decapitating a man in New South Wales, Australia - successfully won a role in a serial killer film whilst he was on the run.

The film, Mystery Road, stars Hugo Weaving and Jack Thompson and tells the story of a detective seeking answers after a young girl's body is discovered in the outback. Stenberg applied for the role of a policeman, using a false name and describing himself as a qualified weapons instructor. He has since been arrested and is awaiting trial.

The news comes a day after a severed head discovered in a Montreal park was tentatively identified as belonging to Jun Lin, the alleged victim of adult film star Luka Rocco Magnotta, who is believed to have murdered him and posted a video of the crime on the internet before posting parts of his body to politicians. Magnotta is also in police custody.
