Dead Man Down gets real

Teenager is shot dead at mob thriller location.

by Jennie Kermode

A local teenager was gunned down yesterday in Philadelphia's East Frankford district, just where a film crew was preparing to shoot scenes from gangland thriller Dead Man Down. The film stars Colin Farrell as a mob henchman who is seduced by Noomi Rapace's vengeful former victim.

The 18 year old shooting victim, whose name is yet to be released, was hit three times before collapsing in front of a film crew member. He was rushed to hospital but died an hour later. Police are interviewing several suspects.

There were 111 murders in Philadelphia last year, mostly connected to the drugs trade, though this incident is believed to have been sparked by an argument. Crew members have expressed their shock and sense of disorientation, but filming will continue as planned.
