Miss Piggy to be BAFTA red carpet host

The Muppets star plans to welcome celebrities in style.

by Jennie Kermode

One of the most talked about stars of the moment, Miss Piggy has now been announced as this year's red carpet BAFTA host, welcoming celebrities as they arrive. She has spoken with enthusiasm of the pleasure it will doubtless give actors like Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender to get to meet her, and is particularly keen to get to know George Clooney.

Forthright questions and uncompromising fashion commentary are likely to be the order of the day at Sunday's event in the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. But while Miss Piggy suggested Clooney might buy her dinner, she remains devoted to her partner, Kermit the Frog. The BAFTA arrangement follows a long-running campaign by fans to have the Muppets host the Oscars.
