The Telluride film festival is rapidly becoming one of the most esteemed among industry insiders, with George Clooney, Tilda Swinton and Pierre Étaix scheduled to attend and receive Silver Medallion awards. New films from Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, David Cronenberg and Aki Kaurismäki feature on an impressive slate.

Swinton stars in We Need To Talk About Kevin, directed by leading British talent Lynne Ramsey, which is among the festival highlights. It's also a chance to see The Turin Horse, which Bela Tarr says is the last film of his career and which impressed fans at the Edinburgh International Film Festival earlier this year. Agnieszka Holland's In Darkness and Martin Scorsese's documentary about George Harrison, Living In The Material World, are also likely to provide a treat for film fans.

The festival will be held from the 2nd to the 5th of this month in Telluride, Colorado. "This has proven to be a marvelous year for the festival. We discovered many more fine movies than our four-day weekend could include," said co-director Gary Meter, who is excited about the work by first time directors that will also be shown there.
