Desert island film stars

Who would you most like to be marooned with?

by Jennie Kermode

Which film stars should be worrying most about being kidnapped and spirited away to desert islands? The results were revealed this week in a poll by dating site BeNaughty. Unfortunately respondents didn't get to choose their top ten like they do in Desert Island Discs, and there was no mention of a complimentary Complete Works Of Shakespeare with which to while away the hours when they were uninterested, but the poll was met with enthusiasm nonetheless.

So who won? Male respondents had six sexy actresses to choose from (it goes without saying that these things assume everyone is heterosexual) and top of that list was Keira Knightley. Men over the age of 46, however, preferred the still delectable Helen Mirren, and voters in Edinburgh were much more keen on Kate Winslet.

As for the women's choice, that was Ewan McGregor, with nearly a third of the vote (so he must have done something right in Angels And Demons, even if it wasn't that accent). Bond star Daniel Craig came second with just over a quarter of respondents naming him as their preferred option.
