Manchester's Festival of Fantastic Films is a great place for fans of genre movies to get together and talk about their favourites. It screens old classics and the best new independent work, runs its own awards, and features lots of other fun events like guest Q&A's, discussion panels, signing sessions, a film fair full of memorabilia, and an auction run by famous horror author Ramsey Campbell.

This year's festival dates have been announced as the 16th to 18th of October, so you can start making your travel plans now. The event will be held in Day's Hotel at the Manchester Conference Centre and tickets are £70 for full adult attendance, with various cheaper options available.

Filmmakers, both professional and amateur, are invited to submit their work for possible screening at the festival. It's a great place to get your film noticed, especially if you win an award.

This year's festival guest stars have been announced as Jenny Hanley (Scars Of Dracula, On Her Majesty's Secret Service), Robert Fuest (And Soon The Darkness, The Final Programme), composer John Scott and director Norman J Warren (Inseminoid). The event is run by the Society of Fantastic Films.
