Slumdog Millionaire wins top award in Toronto

Audiences vote Danny Boyle's film their favourite.

Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire has won the Cadillac People's Choice Award at Toronto Film Festival.

The film - which tells the life of an orphan in the Indian slums who wins Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - was voted for by festival-goers.

The 51-year-old director - whose film has recently been selected to close the London Film Festival - wins a prize pot of $15,000 (around £8,400).
