The skies may have been dark with rain, but at least the stars were out in force for the Clash Of The Titans world premiere.

Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, Alexa Davalos, Jason Flemyng and Nicholas Hoult joined director Louis Leterrier and other members of the cast and crew for the exclusive event in London’s Leicester Square, which had been transformed into a spectacular - if slightly soggy - ancient world complete with mock ruins, pyrotechnic displays and costumed ‘warriors’.

Braving the wet weather to stand and chat about Clash Of The Titans, Leterrier said: “I was the biggest fan of the original – I can quote you every line from that. [The new film] is respectful to the original thing and it’s just a fun ride. Go see it in 3D – it’s something else.”

The new technology is something he seems particularly excited about, adding: “We tried to do this on The Incredible Hulk because it was lending itself so well to it, and then we realised that the technology wasn’t up to standard, so we decided not to do it. But now that this is ready, why not? Let’s go for it!”

Casino Royale actor Mads Mikkelsen also stopped to tell Eye For Film a bit about his role in the fantasy adventure, revealing: “I play Draco, he’s a retired soldier who’s working in the palace taking care of the princess, and he’s been dragged on this journey by Perseus the demi-god.”

And gorgeous actress Alexa Davalos, who plays said princess, was full of praise for her co-star Sam Worthington (Perseus), gushing: “He’s amazing – he’s unlike anyone else. He’s incredibly honest, which I so cherish, and he’s like a wishing well of information and ideas and creativity.”

Was she distracted by all these hunky guys on set in their warrior gear? “Well, they’re as gorgeous on the inside, so it was just this all-around brilliant environment. They’re amazing men.”

Other celebs spotted at the event included Andy Serkis, Jamie Oliver, Ali Bastian, Brendan Cole and The X Factor’s Brian Friedman, who admitted he was a huge fan of the original Titans flick. “This is one of those movies when I was a kid that I was addicted to. I remember when we got our first VCR – oh my God, really – we would rent it over and over and over again. I’m so excited to see this – I feel like a little kid today!”
