As Park City gears up to host its final edition of Sundance Festival, which kicks off later today Utah time, Amy Redford gave a touching tribute to its founder, her dad Robert, at a press gathering last night, saying "he loved this place and its people".

She was joined at the even by current festival director Eugene Hernandez among others but it was her words about her father, who died in September last year at the age of 89 that proved the most resonant.

Reflecting ahead of the festival's move to Boulder, Colorado next year, she added: "Utah, is the Bedrock that allowed us to build. The Sundance Mountain Resort was the nucleus. Park City is the portal for so many stories to be set free into the world."

The festival has entered into a 10-year agreement with Boulder but Redford was upbeat about the idea of "new beginnings". She added: We will ground our next chapter in the founding values Dad articulated on a single sheet of paper - if you've read them, they are simple and strong and they guide our decisions to this day."

She ended by encouraging the gathering “to seek the unknowns and find out who they are - it was really my dad’s favourite part.”

We'll be bringing you coverage throughout the festival.
