Actor Kevin Spacey is to be charged with a further seven sexual offences, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

The charges against the Oscar winner include three counts of sexual assault, one of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and three counts of indecent assault, all against one man. The incidents are alleged to have happened between 2001 and 2004.

Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “The CPS has authorised additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for a number of sexual assaults against one man between 2001 and 2004.

"The CPS has also authorised one charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. The authority to charge follows a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation."

The star, who has won Oscars for American Beauty and The Usual Suspects, denied five allegations relating to three men at the Old Bailey in July. That trial is due to start next June.

Editor's note: On July 26, 2023, Spacey was declared not guilty of all charges following a trial in London
