61st New York Film Festival talks announced

Film at Lincoln Center has announced that Paul B Preciado, director of Orlando, My Political Biography (Main Slate selection) will deliver the third annual Amos Vogel Lecture during the 61st New York Film Festival. In Deep Focus: Todd Haynes (Opening Night Gala selection May December, starring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, and Charles Melton) will present his Image Book, Nikki Giovanni (featured in Joe Brewster’s Spotlight selection Going To Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Story) will participate in a discussion moderated by Edwidge Danticat, Sandra Hüller, star of two Main Slate selections (Justine Triet’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner Anatomy Of A Fall and Jonathan Glazer’s brilliant Cannes Grand Prix winner The Zone Of Interest), and Catherine Breillat (Last Summer NYFF61, Abuse Of Weakness, NYFF51).

Todd Haynes’s previous films screening at the New York Film Festival were Velvet Goldmine (NYFF36), ]I’m Not There (NYFF45), Carol (NYFF53), Wonderstruck (NYFF55 - Centerpiece Selection), and The Velvet Underground (NYFF59).

Michael Mann’s Ferrari, starring Penélope Cruz and Adam Driver (as Enzo Ferrari) with Shailene Woodley, Gabriel Leone, Patrick Dempsey, and Jack O’Connell will be the Closing Night selection and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, a portrait of Elvis Presley’s (Jacob Elordi) wife, born Priscilla Ann Wagner (Cailee Spaeny) is the Centerpiece selection.

Sofia Coppola’s previous films screening at the New York Film Festival were Marie Antoinette (NYFF 44), starring Kirsten Dunst, and On The Rocks (NYFF 58) with Bill Murray.

The 2023 Amos Vogel Lecture by Paul B. Preciado is on Wednesday, October 4 at 6:00pm - Amphitheater

Todd Haynes is on Saturday, September 30 at 4:00pm - Amphitheater

Nikki Giovanni with Edwidge Danticat is on Sunday, October 1 at 1:00pm - Amphitheater

Sandra Hüller is on Sunday, October 8 at 6:00pm - Amphitheater

Catherine Breillat is on Thursday, October 12 at 6:00pm - Amphitheater

The Amphitheater at Film at Lincoln Center is located in the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (144 West 65th Street).

The series complements the film program and is free and open to the public. NYFF61 Talks are presented by HBO®.

The New York Film Festival Main Slate selection committee, chaired by Dennis Lim, also includes Florence Almozini, Justin Chang, K. Austin Collins, and Rachel Rosen.

The 61st New York Film Festival runs from Friday, September 29 through Sunday, October 15.
