John Waters' Polyester added to EIFF line-up

30th anniversary screening in Odorama

by Amber Wilkinson

A special presentation of John Waters' Polyester is screening as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival in conjunction with Midnight Movies.

The screening, on Friday June 24 at Edinburgh Filmhouse, at 10pm, will be presented in Odorama with specially made scratch 'n' sniff cards.

This bad taste comedy stars drag queen superstar Divine as put-upon housewife Francine Fishpaw, tormented by an adulterous husband, perverted offspring... and bad smells. Co-starring Tab Hunter and Edith Massey, and with a soundtrack by Debbie Harry and Michael Kamen.

There will be a will hold a pre-screening party in the Filmhouse bar from 10pm with retro tunes and trashy cocktails. Prizes will be given for the best dressed and worst smelling!

Dress code: suburban housewives, Teenage Delinquents, overbearing nuns, drag, kitsch, retro.

EIFF has also announced the BBC big screen films, which also have a distinct Eighties flavour. Tron will show on June 11 and 13 and ET: The Extra Terrestrial will screen on June 12 and 14

The big screen films will show at 7pm 200 seats will be provided on first come first served basis, no tickets necessary.

Tickets for Polyester are available from the EIFF website.
