It's the hottest thing on Bondi Beach - at a glittering celebration attended by stars and industry honchos alike, the Flickerfest Film Festival last night announced its 2010 award winners. After ten days of screenings, the Coopers Award for Best Film went to Mark Albiston and Louis Sutherland's The Six Dollar Fifty Man, the story of a bullied boy who has to break out of his superhero fantasy world in order to stand up for himself in the real one.

In the animation category the big winner was feline film noir The Cat Piano, directed by Eddie White and Ari Gibson and narrated by Nick Cave. The special jury prize went to Luke Doolan’s Miracle Fish, which also proved a hit at last year's Sundance, while the digital technology award went to Denis Villenue's Next Floor.

Proving that big things can come in small packages, the winning films will now be going on tour along with a selection of other great shorts from the festival.
