Groundbreaking London festival showcases work by women film-makers from March 8-13th

Despite inroads in virtually all walks of life it is a sad fact that just seven per cent of film directors are women.

Aiming to celebrate those women who manage to turn their artistic vision into a reality, the London's Bird's Eye View Festival, from March 8-13th will showcase some of the best contemporary film by women.

Supported by a host of stars, including Joanna Lumley, Mike Figgis, Alison Steadman and Anthony Minghella Bird's Eye View has produced a series of successful national tours and this year marks the first festival.

Films from around the world including debut feature by Shona Auerbach, Dear Frankie.

Short film and documentaries will also be showcased and there will also be a series of talks, events and parties.
