A cat dreams, hyper-stylised, all big eyes and tiny everything else. One of three Tokyo Plastic shorts, all following the same pattern - sleeping cat, movie parody, sleeping cat, Fatal Danger is a trip into the action arena. A yellow Pontiac GTO careens down a tunnel, pursued by a looming oil-tanker. The "kitteh" star of Catzilla and The Tail Gunner is here an action type in a Bruce Willis mold - not to the same extent as the star of Bruce, to be fair, but certainly driven.
As with the other Tokyo Plastic shorts it's a good evocation of genre, long enough for us to pick up the cues, raise a smile, and then gone. Shown at EIFF 2010 in the McLaren Animation strand they are far shorter than their colleagues but more than earn their place. With good vehicle design and an homage to Duel this is an entertaining little piece of work.Reviewed on: 09 Jul 2010
