Then A Summer Starts

Written by Yukari Higo, directed by Satsuki Okawa, and scored by Philip Curran, Then A Summer Starts is detached, unsettling, and intriguing. A goldfish is perhaps an unusual metaphor for freedom, but it works here. Its sense of intimate alienation, of romantic distance, is reminiscent of the work of Haruki Murakami.

All the performances are well judged, and while the girl is stunning in her silences, the only cast member whose name I've got is Disco the Dog.
