| Tulips at SECIME |
Its latest edition will run from April 17 to 25 and is widely regarded as one of the country's key short film festivals.
Tulips, directed by Rhys Prichard, follows a young woman who visits her grandfather with her mum and dad in a bid to document his dementia. It stars Ishtar Currie-Wilson and David Shaw Parker as the granddaughter and grandfather pairing.
This year the festival will award its Roel de Honor to veteran Spanish star Javier Cámara (Truman, Sex And Lucia).
The international competition brings together 14 short films from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Oceania. Several films in the selection have already gained visibility on the international festival circuit. Una torreta en llamas, by Mexican director Humberto Flores Jáuregui, unfolds in the aftermath of a violent episode, while Sheep, by Iranian filmmaker Hadi Babaeifar, presented at the Berlinale, follows a young girl attempting to save sheep destined for sacrifice during a religious festival.
