Jetpac Willy

David Palmer's gentle comedy is lightly spinkled with stardust. Willy is a dreamer, a schemer, whose life has been dominated by a single passion - rocket science.

His best friend Armstrong has been chosen as test astronaut in the prototype space launch from a neighbouring field. Armstrong is a mouse.

Willy's flatmates - a girl in PR and a stonehead - find the whole thing baffling, even exasperating, until tragedy strikes, when they gather together for an act of group solidarity.

The film is consistantly observant, with little touches of humour. Although lacking innovation, it is still great fun.

As a tribute to those who ever wanted to blast off, Jetpac Willy stands small, but proud.
