The picture quality is as flawless as one might expect from a recent film. Subtitling is all present and correct, both on the main feature and on the extras. Whilst the sound quality is perfectly acceptable, I would have expected slightly better use of the rear speakers, particularly during scenes with gunfire.

Fight The Good Fight is a featurette about the action scenes in the film. It's thoroughly uninteresting and uninformative.

Blink and you'll miss the deleted scenes and the outtakes. There's nothing worth seeing in either. Other deleted scenes are mentioned in the audio commentaries. Why weren't they included?

The alternative ending feels like a quick improvisation that doesn't come off. It's as disappointing as the other extras.

All of which makes the thought of sitting through not one but two audio commentaries unappealing. The commentary with directory Kevin Bray, director of photography Glen Macpherson and editor Robert Ivision is your bog standard fair that wouldn't bear repeated listens, even by fans of the film.

The commentary from The Rock was the extra I was dreading the most, but surprisingly it's far and away the best on the disc. He's a charismatic talker and more than capable of maintaining the listener's interest throughout. Sometimes he's unintentionally hilarious, such as when he claims that he's proud that the film addresses the issue of crystal meth - there's a very short overdose scene, after which the protagonist is better the very next time he appears. On other occasions, he seems to check himself, and figuratively wink at the audience, before he goes too far, such as when he's comparing himself to Robert De Niro. Mostly, he's just pleasant and amusing company, but not enough to warrant a purchase of this DVD.
