Second Run DVD's release of Vera Chytilová's film is most welcome, as it is the first time it has been available on DVD in the Englilsh-speaking world. The picture is somewhat grainy in places but it has been restored and the subtitles are good throughout. The package is acompanied by a booklet featuring an informative essay from journalist Carmen Gray, who puts the film in context of the Czech cinema at the time and Chytilová's career
